Varadkar: Westminster vote reduces risk of no-deal Brexit 

The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has said a vote by the UK’s House of Commons to delay Britain’s departure from the EU reduces the likelihood of “a cliff edge, no-deal Brexit”.

British MPs earlier voted to approve a motion to delay the Brexit process.

It was passed on Thursday by 412 votes in favour to 202 against.

Donald Trump to visit Ireland later this year

The US President Donald Trump has said he will visit Ireland this year.

He was speaking as he met Taoiseach Leo Varadkar in the White House for the annual St Patrick's Day meeting.

Asked if he would visit Ireland during a press conference, Mr Trump said: "I will, I'll be coming at some point during the year."

'The Snapper' actor Pat Laffan dies

Tributes are being paid to Irish actor Pat Laffan, who has died aged 79.

He was perhaps best known for playing George Burgess in the 1993 film 'The Snapper', opposite Colm Meaney.

He also played the memorable character of Pat Mustard in an episode of 'Fr Ted'.

An Post to offer homeless people an address to apply for jobs and access services

Homeless people will be offered an address by An Post to help them access services or apply for jobs.

An Post says Address Point will enable people with no fixed abode to open a bank account, apply for school places for children, and deal with medical appointments.

A number of homeless services are working with An Post.

Ireland taken to court over package holiday standards

The European Commission is referring Ireland to the European Court of Justice (ECJ) for failing to implement EU rules on package travel.

The rules are designed to ensure agencies offering package holidays give clear information.

This is particularly an issue on the full cost and any additional charges.
