An Post has launched a collection of Westlife stamps after “strong” public demand to commemorate the band’s 25th anniversary.
The band has recorded 14 number one songs and registered 55 million record sales.
In a statement, Westlife said the stamps “mean the world to us”.
“It is such an honour and privilege to be featured on Irish stamps and it is a very special way to commemorate our 25 years of Westlife touring together,” they said.
On Newstalk Breakfast, An Post spokesperson Aileen Moloney said staff were “very excited” to launch the stamps today.
“We really rely on suggestions from members of the public, from State organisations and also community groups,” she said.
“Anything from historical groups through to cultural groups.
“We get suggestions every year for two years in advance.
“So, right now, we’re looking for 2028.”
Who wouldn’t want these stamps when we’re looking like that 🤩

Ms Moloney added there was a “strong” demand for Westlife stamps in 2023, with many people eager to see their successes celebrated.
“What we do is put together all of those suggestions into a programme which is recommended by an independent committee, called the Philately Advisory Committee, a group of experts who help us formulate 12 to 13 stamp topics,” she explained.
“They go to Government; Government look at them, consider them, approve them usually and then they come back to us.”
The wait is over! 🤩📨🫶

Ms Moloney continued that An Post approached Westlife and the band were “great in helping us to produce the stamps”.
“We think the stamp portraits themselves are fabulous and they kindly produced a little video with us there with the stamps,” she said.
The stamps can be saved as a collector’s item or used at any point in the future.
