Newstalk has recorded a record audience share with 822,000 people tuning in every week, the latest JNLR survey has found.

The station now has a national market share of 7.6% and 466,000 daily listeners.

The Pat Kenny Show remains the station’s most popular programme with a record 205,000 daily listeners - up 26,000 since the last survey three months ago.

Moncrieff also saw an increase in listeners; everyday a record 110,000 people tune in to the programme, up 7,000 since the previous JNLR.

107,000 people also listen to Lunchtime Live every day day - 5,000 more than in August.

148,000 and 144,000 people respectively listen every day to The Hard Shoulder and Newstalk Breakfast - figures that were slightly lower than in the previous survey.

Managing Editor Patricia Monaghan said she was “delighted” with the numbers.

“It is great recognition of all the hard work, energy and creativity that our programme teams put in every day,” she said.

“They deliver great content to our listeners and enable our presenters, reporters and contributors to have the conversations that count to our audience.

“I would particularly like to congratulate Pat Kenny and his show team on a great result and one that is very well deserved.

“Pat recently celebrated ten years at Newstalk and has never sounded better. It is great to see that the audience are continuing to move the dial to hear more of him.”

The JNLR figures are published once a quarter.
