Police in the US believe an Irishwoman killed three members of her own family before taking her own life.
It comes after investigators found four bodies at a house in Reno, Nevada on Wednesday morning.
Police have since identified the dead as 53-year-old Joan Huber, her husband Adam Huber, 50 and their two teenage sons, 16-year-old Michael and 17-year-old Adam.
Ms Huber was from the Killarney area of County Kerry but had lived in the US for many years.
Investigators believe she shot and killed her family before taking her own life in the days before the bodies were discovered.
Reno police have said they are still actively investigating the case and there is no known motive at this time.
The Washoe County School District said two of its students had died in a “domestic incident.”
Students are being offered the services of counsellors, social workers and school psychologists.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has said it is aware of the case and providing consular assistance.
