The mother of Grace Lynch has said she the death threats she has received on social media are an attempt to “intimadate” her into stopping her activism.
16 year old Grace died in January this year after she was hit by a scrambler bike in Finglas. An adult teenager has been charged in connection to her death.
Since then, Grace’s parents, Siobhán and Martin, have dedicated themselves to road safety activism and the Government has introduced a ban on scrambler bikes on public roads.
On The Claire Byrne Show, Ms Lynch said her outspokenness has led to her receiving death threats.
“In the last well over a month now, I have received threats of ‘they will put me down’, ‘they will put me where my daughter is’,” she described.
“They have slandered Grace; they have said they don't care if Grace got a smack of a scrambler - they don't care about the law.
“And I've had other people tell me, 'I will have my window smashed', ‘I'd better stop now or I'll know all about it’.
“The list just goes on and on.”
Grace Lynch.Ms Lynch has saved the threats - most of which were sent to her Facebook and TikTok accounts - and reported them to An Garda Síochána.
Gardaí said some were serious, while others were not.
“It is frightening, but at the same time, it's all a way of trying to intimidate,” she continued.
“I've had people tell me ‘Grace was an absolute idiot’, ‘Did she not hear a scrambler?’ ‘Why did she not just stay back?’ ‘Why did she cross the road?’ ‘How dare I stand up for my daughter?’”

Mr Lynch does not believe his wife should give up her activism. However, he has suggested she take a break from social media.
“I'm obviously annoyed and agitated,” he said.
“There's no point in arguing with these people because you're not going to get anywhere.
“They always had a bad upbringing and there's no morals.”
