Investigation after mother dies at Cork University Maternity Hospital

A medical investigation has been launched at Cork University Maternity Hospital (CUMH).

The mother of a newborn child was found dead on the floor of her room on Monday.

The infant was found seriously injured beside her mother.

Luas Green Line to be unaffected in revised MetroLink plan

A revised plan for Dublin's MetroLink will see Luas Green Line services unaffected during construction.

The metro service will run from Estuary, north of Swords to Dublin’s south city, serving Dublin Airport and the city centre.

The initial police response to the Co Tyrone disco tragedy will be scrutinised by the North's Police Ombudsman.

Three teenagers lost their lives in a crush while queuing to get into the Greenvale Hotel in Cookstown on St Patrick's night.

17-year-old Lauren Bullock died at the scene, while Morgan Barnard, also aged 17, and 16-year-old Connor Currie died after being brought to hospital.

European Parliament approves controversial new copyright directive

The European Parliament has passed controversial new copyright laws that critics have warned could threaten the nature of the internet.

The package of legislation, designed to update European copyright law for the digital age, was passed by 348 votes to 274.

A last minute proposal to remove the Directive's most controversial clause - Article 13 or the 'upload filter' - was rejected by five votes.
