A man remains in Garda custody following his arrest in connection to the death of Daniel Aruebose.
The boy from Donabate in North County Dublin would be eight years old if he were alive today.
However, Daniel has not been seen alive since 2021.
After concerns were raised by Tusla last year, a Garda search uncovered his skeletal remains close to where he lived in Donabate.
On Newstalk Breakfast, Irish Independent Robin Schiller said the suspect was arrested at Dublin Airport yesterday afternoon.
“That man was known to Daniel when he was last known to be alive in around 2021,” he said.
“In recent years, he had been living in Brazil and, while he had been engaging remotely with the Guard investigation, he has never returned home.”

“Just before Christmas on December 23rd, he was arrested for immigration violations,” Mr Schiller added.
“Now, he was taken into custody, pending deportation proceedings and, earlier this week, he was removed from Brazil back to Ireland via a connecting flight to Lisbon.
“When that flight arrived from Portugal at Dublin Airport yesterday, shortly after five o'clock, Gardaí were waiting for this man.
“Immediately, as he disembarked that flight, he was arrested on suspicion of Daniel's murder and taken into custody.”

Gardaí have 24 hours from the moment of his arrest to charge him or release him.
Before Christmas, a woman was arrested and questioned in connection to Daniel’s death.
She was released without charge.
