Aslan singer Christy Dignam is receiving palliative care at home, his family has said.

A family statement said they wanted to share an update on his health "in response to the large number of media enquiries."

Christy was admitted to Dublin's Beaumont Hospital back in July 2022, and spent the next six months in the care of the Haematology and Cardiac Care team.

Since December, he has been at home and is being cared for with the support of a palliative care team, the statement added.

His family has thanked everyone for keeping Christy in their thoughts and prayers, and has asked for privacy at this time.

The band were set to play Dublin's 3Arena in March, as part of a rescheduled concert to celebrate their 40th year.

They were forced to postpone their original date due to illness last September.

This show has now been cancelled

They were also set to play venues in Louth, Donegal, Monaghan, Cork, Wexford and Kerry.

Aslan came together as a band in 1982 and have had numerous chart successes, perhaps being best known for 'This Is' and 'Crazy World'.
