Zimbabwe wicketkeeper Brendan Taylor has offered his apologies "on behalf of the Zimbabwe cricket team" to Ireland all-rounder John Mooney after the Dubliner was the subject of an "unacceptable article" in the African nation's press.
Following on from Mooney's match-changing catch to help send the Africans out of the Cricket World Cup, the Zimbabwe Herald published a highly controversial article which appeared to sneer at the 33-year-old's battles with alcoholism and depression.
"On behalf of the Zimbabwe cricket team. We just want to express our apologies to @Irelandcricket and John Mooney for the unacceptable article," Taylor wrote on Twitter.
