Heinz and Barnardos are partnering once again to encourage families to spend meaningful time around the dinner table – and support vulnerable children and families across Ireland while doing so.
The ‘Heinz Meanz Mealz’ campaign supports Barnardos staff on the ground as they continue their vital work delivering Breakfast Clubs and family support programmes to those who need them most around the country.
Over one million packs of ‘Heinz Meanz Mealz’ cans have been sold since the partnership was first launched in 2022, helping to raise funds for Barnardos as it continues to work with more than 34,000 children and families across Ireland each year.
As the campaign enters its fifth year, Heinz and Barnardos are encouraging people all over the country to get involved by getting around the dinner table and spending time with family.
Family time
New research commissioned by Heinz shows that children and adults are looking for closer connections across generations – and that sharing food can play an important role in bringing families together.
The research finds that children value conversation and quality time over material things – with just 6% saying they spend enough meaningful time with the people closest to them.
Meanwhile, more than eight-in-ten children (81%) say sharing food brings families together, a sentiment shared by 50% of adults.
Children also place a strong value on relationships with trusted adults beyond their parents, with half (50%) naming grandparents as their biggest positive influence.
