AFC Asian Cup favourites Japan have been knocked out of the tournament after a penalty shooutout defeat to United Arab Emirates.

The Blue Samurai dominated possesion and missed numerous chances as the sides drew 1-1 after extra-time.

Japan's star man Keisuke Honda started the penalty shootout by firing his kick over the bar, while ex-Manchester United attacking midfielder Keisuke Honda also missed his kick as UAE progressed 5-4 on penalties.
