There was a major shock in the Premier League this afternoon as champions Manchester City went down 1-0 at home to Stoke.

Former Manchester United striker Mame Biram Diouf scored the goal there to condemn City to their first defeat of the season.

Neil Warnock's first game in his second spell as Crystal Palace boss was a pulsating 3-3 draw at Newcastle.

Wilifried Zaha scored late on to clinch a point for Palace, after Dwight Gayle and Jason Puncheon had earlier scored for the Eagles.

Daryl Janmaat, Rolando Aarons and Mike Williamson scored Newcastle's goals.

Swansea meanwhile are the new early leaders of the top-flight after a 3-0 win over West Brom thanks to a Nathan Dyer brace and a Wayne Routledge goal.

QPR are off the mark after a 1-0 victory over Sunderland, thanks to a strike from Charlie Austin.

And Southampton beat West Ham 3-1 at Upton Park.

Morgan Schneiderlin scored twice for Southampton, with Graziano Pelle also netting.

Mark Noble scored for West Ham.

Earlier, Manchester United continued their winless streak this season with a nil-all draw by Burnley.

Chelsea are currently ahead of Everton with two goals to nil.
