Danny Willet has put himself in contention for The Irish Open at Fota Island with a course record score of 63. The record breaking round was made all the more special as it included the hole-in-one of the tournament, on the seventh hole.
The score of 8 under puts Willet one shot off leader Mikko Ilonen. The Finn is on 12 under.
Graeme McDowell is currently the strongest hope of a home win. G-Mac is on 10 under following a 2 under round of 69 today and finishes the day in third place.
Gareth Maybin also hit a 69 in his third round and now ties for eighth on 8 under, while Padraig Harrington site a further 2 shots back.
The rest of the Irish in the field are spaced apart at regular intervals. Michael Hoey and John Kelly are on 4 and 3 under, respectively, while Peter Lawrie is on 2 under and Darren Clarke on level par for the tournament.
Waterford amateur Gary Hurley did not enjoy a good third round, shooting 81 for 6 over par.
