Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert says they have failed in an attempt to sign Manchester City midfielder Scott Sinclair.
The winger has only made two substitute appearances for the champions in this season's Premier League and had been strongly linked with the Birmingham club.
Embattled Lambert said he believes the January transfer window rarely offers good value and suggested that no more signing will be made.
"Will there be any more coming in? The way it's looking at the moment, ‘no,’" he said.
"It's a mixture of everything really. Anything with Scott, is dead. It's just the way it is at the moment."
Villa brought in attacking midfielder Carles Gil from Valencia last week.
