Leeds director Massimo Cellino has resigned from the club.

He was recently disqualified from involvement with the stricken Championship club by the Football League, due to a conviction for tax evasion in his native Italy.

Cellino can return on April 10th, and has vowed to do so "in good health and good spirits".

Despite controversy over his conviction in Italy, some have credited him with getting a grip on Leeds' financial issues.

In a statement, the former Cagliari owner said: "I will return to this great football club in April in good health and good spirits. I have done my best for a club and fans that I hold close to my heart and it is now financially much stronger than it has been for a long time."
