John Carver will be confirmed as Newcastle head coach until the end of the season.

Alan Pardew's former assistant will take charge of the team for the remaining 16 games of their Premier League campaign, before a permanent successor will be named.

Carver has yet to taste victory since taking over the Newcastle first team.

The club have been linked with a foreign manager long-term, with Ajax manager Frank De Boer said to have been approached.
