Ireland appears to have a severe shortage of dietitians both in our hospitals and in the community.

A recent study, by the Irish Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism and UCC, highlighted the number of cancer patients suffering severe weight loss who were not getting access to a dietitian.

The Coeliac Society and Diabetes Ireland have also highlighted the lack of access for public patients with chronic conditions.

The HSE has acknowledged there are gaps in services and is considering a review undertaken last year.

Newstalk's Aideen Finnegan has been speaking to registered dietitians, as well as Georgie Crawford from The Good Glow podcast about her food concerns in the wake of her cancer diagnosis.
