A woman in her 80s has died following an assault in Dublin.

The woman was discovered at a house in Kincora Court in Clontarf at around 8pm last night.

She died from injuries received as a result of the assault.

Her body was removed from the scene overnight and the house remains sealed off this morning for a technical examination.

A man in his 60s was arrested at the scene.

He is currently being questioned at Clontarf Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

It’s believed the suspect and victim were known to each other and gardaí are following a definite line of inquiry.
