Are GAA tickets still good value?
With just a couple of weeks to go before the All Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the price of tickets are increasingly on people’s mind.
On Lunchtime Live, Tipp FM sports editor Paul Carroll said many families are feeling the pinch.
“I think €60 for the two second biggest games in the hurling calendar isn’t too bad,” he said.
“It’s just the pattern; the upward pattern of ticket prices in GAA is a little bit worrying.
“If you’re a Tipperary supporter coming up to this game and you’re paying €60, the total you would have paid on tickets so far this year for Tipperary games, just in the championship, would be €265.
“I think it’s two years in a row that it’s been increased by €5 at this stage.”

Mr Carroll said the overall trend is concerning.
“Because usually when ticket prices go up, they tend not to come back down,” he explained.
“If it’s just €5 every year, it doesn’t sound too bad.
“But when you stand back, in another few years, if it’s still going up, then it’s not going to be good.”
