A Norwegian athlete has shocked the world by confessing live on television to cheating on his girlfriend.
Sturla Holm Laegreid own a bronze medal in the in the 20km individual biathlon at Milan-Cortina and decided to open up about his “biggest mistake” in an interview afterwards with the press.
"There's someone I wanted to share it with who might not be watching," he said.
"Six months ago I met the love of my life - the most beautiful and kindest person in the world. Three months ago I made my biggest mistake and cheated on her.
"I had the gold medal in life and I am sure there are many people who will see things differently, but I only have eyes for her.
"Sport has come second these last few days. Yes, I wish I could share this with her."

In response, his ex-girlfriend told a Norwegian newspaper that his actions were “hard to forgive, even after a declaration of love in front of the whole world".
“We have been in contact and he is aware of my feelings about this," she said.
