Former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci told Newstalk’s Pat Kenny that Donald Trump’s ongoing war on Iran was a part of a “broader chessboard move.”

“It's not really just being run by him. It's being run by what I would call neocons.

“This is the great irony because the president ran on no more forever wars. This is the directive of neocons - something like the late Dick Cheney, if he was around, would be so happy about.”

He explained that while the current President may not be swayed by the influence of Big Oil in the country, he may be driven by how his strategy antagonises those outside of his voter base.

“I think he's made a decision that the ultra green, the ultra liberals, they need to be slayed and owned by him,” Mr Scaramucci said.

“By saying things “Drill, Baby drill”, getting rid of windmills and similar things he’s found a way to anger liberals and create what he calls Trump derangement syndrome.

“It triggers them and it's a way to delight his base.”

Asked what was at the crux of the war, Mr Scaramucci said that the worldview that America should flex its military was to blame as well as was prevalent as well as Prime Minister Netanyahu’s unduly influence on President Trump.

“I think the Americans always make this mistake about not driving into the history of the country”, he added.

He cited the United State’s numerous interventions within different countries. How they backfired and how the country now has an opportunity to learn from Persia being a 5 '000-year-old civilisation.

Scaramucci also spoke to Pat Kenny about the future of Trump’s presidential term.

He noted that even if  there was “actionable evidence that Donald Trump has assaulted underage girls in the Epstein files”, it would likely “not bring him down.”

“I think he's done a very good job of suppressing. He's created a culture of cover-up in the FBI and the Department of Justice.

“I think he will make it to the end of his term. I think it's what’s good for the country that he makes it to the end of his term, because I don't want Vance to be the president.”

Despite his likelihood of finishing his second term in office, Scaramucci paid particular scrutiny to MAGA’s disenchantment with their leader.

“You've got the polls suggesting that MAGA is becoming a little bit disenchanted with Trump,” he told Newstalk.

“Trump will likely live forever, but his political personality is dying.”
