On this week’s ‘So You Think You’re an Adult?’, one woman refuses to speak to her roommate after it appears they had a threesome.

“My housemate is also my college best friend and we've lived together for a few years,” she told Moncrieff.

“Her boyfriend spends a lot of time in our house and has also been a friend of ours for years.

“We decided to have a cocktail night at the house and things got out of hand.

“We got drunker than expected... next thing I knew I was waking up in the bed with two of them completely naked.”

She said she does not remember the night fully, but it seemed to be a “steamy interaction”.

“I've been avoiding them ever since,” she said. “I spent the past few weeks at my parents’... I've been avoiding my friend's calls and texts asking me to speak.”

'Pull off the bandage'

Writer Sophie White said she doesn’t understand why the listener is so embarrassed.

“It’s probably just a ‘pull off the bandage’ moment in life,” she said.

“You just have to get the first encounter over and done with, you’re making it a very big deal in your head.

Sophie said it is better to feel embarrassed over something you know happened rather than imagine even worse situations in your head.

“If you can't remember the whole encounter, that's really awful because you've got some kind of gap in your memory where you're probably filling it with more embarrassing things,” she said.

'She's making it worse'

Writer Barbara Scully said her housemate and friend could also be worried about their spotty memories.

"She’s making it worse by staying away," she said. "The other two probably have an equally ropey memory of what went on, so they could be feeling really guilty."

Barbara said it is complicated when all three people involved have been friends so for long – but it’s not worth ending a friendship over.

“I think most of us, especially when we’re young, especially with drink, have crossed over lines that perhaps we shouldn't have with someone you thought was a friend, but then goes back to being a friend,” she said.

'It was one night'

Whether the listener wants to go back to normal and pretend it never happened, or laugh about it with her friends, she needs to do something.

“This poor woman has made this a huge, big thing in her head that's completely gone out of proportion,” she said.

“Whether it's a threesome or whether it was just that she ended up in bed with the flat mates, it doesn’t matter. It was one night."
