Nicola Coughlan has strongly condemned paparazzi intrusion into her life.
The Derry Girls and Bridgerton star said the “violation is immense” while reflecting on the phenomenon of photographers taking snaps of her going about her daily life,
On Lunchtime Live, broadcaster Sarina Bellisimo said Ms Coughlan is within her rights to object, noting actors are different to reality TV stars.
“They have chosen a job that they really enjoy doing and it's when they are performing for us they're not performing as themselves,” she said.
“We're not talking about you know people who take part in reality TV shows like the Kardashians who put all their life on display.
“What Nicola is putting on display is the life of a character; when she goes and does her junkets she's promoting a film.
“She's not necessarily letting us into her own world and if she does she's given us a little bit of that.
“We don't have a right to go in and go but you know I watch you on TV, so I get access to your life.”
Ms Bellisimo added that people who intrude on the lives of celebrities and judge them seem to forget they are “actually talking about a person”.
