A young couple was served an eviction notice by their landlords after only three months in their new home. 

When they moved in, Stephen and his partner were told they could stay for “at least a year”. 

However, just a few months into the tenancy, they were told they had three months to move out. 

Reflecting on the rental market, Stephen said quietly simply that, “It’s horrible out there”. 

 “You’re going to these viewings and there might be 20 or 30 people at them,” he told Lunchtime Live. 

“Especially these build-to-rent apartments where there’s 30 of you going around, looking at five different apartments.

“If I have to pay more than €1,000 a month on rent, I think I might cry.” 

Having lived in Dublin for 12 years, he has never lived anywhere for longer than two years.
