He didn't quite do it in the short amount of time he had promised pre-fight, but a win is most definitely a win.

By beating Dennis Siver in Boston last night, Conor McGregor has secured himself a UFC featherweight title shot against Jose Aldo in May.

While McGregor won it in Round 2, MMA journalist Mark O'Toole was impressed by the manner of victory when he spoke to Oisin Langan on the Monday Rewind podcast.

"As anyone who's watched Siver's fights before, I don't think he has ever been dominated in quite the way that Conor McGregor did dominate him," said Mark.

"You can't chalk this down as anything other than an impressive win for McGregor."

Looking ahead to the Aldo fight, Mark said "not trying to rush things would be a good tactic" in terms of pacing himself in the octagon.

He also gave his take on who currently has the edge between McGregor and Brazilian Aldo, looking at the importance of the ground game against a man unbeaten in nine years.
