The memes that populated Facebook and Twitter over the last few months have not painted Manchester United's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward in the best light after many a transfer

But by the time the summer window closes, he will have signed Radamel Falcao, Daley Blind, Ander Herrera, Angel Di Maria and Luke Shaw.

John Brewin of ESPN joined us on the line and he believes there is a caveat when it comes to the Falcao deal.

"Woodward has managed to get a big deal done. He's signed a striker but the problem is that we have to think that two years ago every club in the world would have wanted Falcao. Now he's signed a player that Real Madrid didn't want and Manchester City couldn't afford. So Woodward pulled off a big signing but it's a signing with several caveats against it. But he'll be happy to trumpet the signing of a big name player."

Meanwhile, Danny Welbeck is leaving Manchester United for Arsenal and while Brewin sees him as an upgrade on Yaya Sanogo, he does not think the England striker answers every question for the Gunners - even if he is an Arsene Wenger sort of player.

"If you think about it, he's a Wenger type of player, he's adaptable. The problem is for Arsenal is scoring goals. Welbeck is not a player known for scoring goals. He's more deadly than Yaya Sanogo but that's not the most difficult discipline in football at the moment."
