Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers should nt be sacked, according to their former captain Phil Thompson.

The club did start 2015 well, not losing in the Premier League until late March.

But only one win in their last five top flight games means they are now unlikely to qualify for the Champions League.

Speaking on Sky Sports News, Thompson believes Rodgers deserves the chance to make amends this summer.

"The wheels have come off and that's why I wouldn't change manager. For that reason, he turned it around. The summer transfer activity is going to be looked at more by Liverpool this year than ever before," he said.
