Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski ripped up the Bundesliga record books last night as Bayern Munich defeated Wolfsburg 5-1 in the Allianz Arena.

The Polish striker came off the bench at half time when his side were trailing 1-0. 15 minutes later, he scored his fifth goal from a superb volley. His first four goals came in the preceding nine minutes.

Lewandowski's first three goals were the quickest hat trick by a player in the history of the league. He scored them in three minutes and 22 seconds. It took another two minutes and 20 seconds to score his fourth goal and he also recorded the quickest four goal haul in the history of the league.

It was the first time in 24 years that a player scored five goals in a Bundesliga game with Lewandowski becoming the first substitute to achieve the feat.

Ireland play Poland in Warsaw next month in a Euro 2016 qualifer. Hopefully the Polish striker will be kept scoreless that night.
