Jose Mourinho was in no mood to hang around last night after he watched his Manchester United side's 17-game unbeaten run come to an end.

Hull City ran out 2-1 winners at the KCOM Stadium on Thursday night, but the win was not enough to see them through to the EFL Cup final. United held the advantage and picked up a 3-2 aggregate win, but saw their unbeaten run come to a shuddering halt.

Tom Huddlestone gave the home side the lead from the spot, before Paul Pogba levelled things up for the visitors as he poked the ball into the net. United felt they could have had a penalty when Chris Smalling tangled with Huddlestone in the box, but nothing was given.

Baye Oumar Niasse scored the winner five minutes from time, but it wasn't enough to book them a place in the final and gift their fans a trip to Wembley.

Despite progressing, Mourinho was in no mood to hang around last night and gave a 30-second interview to Sky after the game.

"I just want to say congratulations to my players because it was a difficult road to be in the final and we are in the final," he said.

"I don't want to say anything else because it's enough. I'm calm, I behaved on the bench, not sent off, no punishment, so no more words."

Then, in an even more bizarre turn of events, Mourinho claimed that his side had not in fact last the game in the post-match press conference.

"We didn't lose, it was 1-1," he told reporters. "I only saw two goals. I saw Pogba's goal and their goal. Fantastic goal, great action, great cross and the guy in the back post coming.

"1-1. We are still unbeatable."
