Guardians of the Galaxy!
Al Pacino loves Marvel’s box-office behemoth just as much as you do, saying he was totally charmed by the talking tree, homicidal raccoon, and presumably the chart-topping soundtrack to boot.
In an interview with Deadline at a Venice Film Festival Q&A, the Academy-award winning actor described the sci-fi comic-book movie as “the most entertaining, inventive, beautiful film.”
The 74-year old veteran actor, beloved for his classic role in the Godfather trilogy, saw Guardians of the Galaxy with his teenage sons.
“It was not something I would readily go see, but my kids got me to go, and one has to draw the line at where prejudice starts and where it ends — that was good stuff!” the actor told Deadline.
“I recognized the ingenious stuff they were doing; the invention, the attractiveness of the way they were performing it. It had Shakespearian feeling to it at times. I was caught up in the big screen, the great sound,” he added.
When asked if he would ever consider taking on a role in a Marvel movie, Pacino said he is up for it, provided he could understand the sense of character in the part.
“I would do anything that I could understand in terms of how I fit in it. And you know, of course if I could fit in it. Anything’s possible,” he told me.
As Guardians of the Galaxy topped the box office during last weekend’s Labor Day holiday in the US, and will probably surpass $1bn this weekend, there’s plenty of cash over at Marvel to secure a place for Pacino on set for Guardians 2.
