Not content to let the upcoming revival of Twin Peaks hog all the attention, it looks as if another pop culture TV hit of the 90s is set to make a return.

Deadline reports that talks are underway for some sort of revival for supernatural thriller The X-Files

Fox TV Group chairman Gary Newman confirmed to the website that he was 'hopeful' the talks would have a positive outcome.

The new episodes would feature both David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson returning as Agents Mulder and Scully, with series creator Chris Carter also likely to return.

The current 'logistical' talks are trying to find a window when the trio are available, with Deadline saying there are currently no 'creative discussions' about what form the 'reboot' might take.

Fox TV is said to be interested in reviving the show following the success of their recent 24 miniseries.

The X-Files originally broadcast between 1993 and 2002. It spawned a feature film in 1998, and another - I Want to Believe - in 2008.
