Driver's championship leader Nico Rosberg has called on fans of the sport to "forgive and forget" after he was roundly booed at the Italian Grand Prix.
The German was heckled as he collected his second place trophy on the podium in Monza.
Rosberg has been involved in a long-running duel with Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton and was involved in a collision at the Belgian Grand Prix which ended Hamilton's race, prompting the negative reaction from fans.
Both Hamilton and Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff have also criticised the reception he received.
"I hope that with time they forgive and forget. That would be great. I have apologised. I can't really do anything more than that," he said.
