The quest for an 18th Grand Slam continues for Roger Federer, as he booked his place in the semi-finals of the Australian Open.

The Swiss star has reached the 41st Grand Slam semi-final of his career, with a straight-sets win over Mischa Zverev in Melbourne. Zverev, who defeated Andy Murray in the previous round failed to match Federer's intensity, who looks close to his best after a long injury lay-ff.

Federer won the match 6-1, 7-5, 6-2 in just over 90 minutes to set up his 13th Australian Open semi-final. He will face Swiss compatriot Stan Wawrinka in the semi-finals.

The 2014 winner was a straight-sets winner of Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in a surprisingly one-sided match. Wawrinka, the number four seed won 7-6, 6-4, 6-3.

In the women's draw, Venus Williams rolled back the years to reach her second Grand Slam semi-final since the 2010 US Open. The seven-time Grand Slam winner defeated Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-4, 7-6 in just under two hours.

Williams will play first-time Grand Slam semi-finalist Coco Vandeweghe in the final-four. The 25-year-old defeated French Open champion Garbine Muguruza 6-4, 6-0.

Wednesday's matches sees the Men's and Women's quarter-finals conclude. Serena Williams and Rafael Nadal are among the headline names in action.
