Hatton carded a four-under 68 today and holds a one shot lead over the chasing pack on 13-under par. The Englishman posted four birdies on the back nine to take control of the tournament.

US Open champion Dustin Johnson is among the group one shot behind the leader after shooting the round of the day with a 64.

Speaking afterwards, the American said: "Yeah it was really solid. I hit a lot of great shots and held the putts I was supposed to hold. It was just a really solid day. I never really was in trouble ever. I drove it well. I hit a lot of greens. I had to get one up and down on 11 but that was the only green I missed all day today. I just hit the ball well today."

He is joined on 12-under by Martin Kaymer, Tommy Fleetwood, Pablo Larrazabal and Kiradech Aphibarnrat.

Other notable scores include Henrik Stenson, Lee Westwood and Alex Noren on 10-under.
