After all his years of great service for Barcelona, the club can console themselves with a £23M fee after selling him to Chelsea.

But it's not just the reigning Champions League holders who stand to benefit financially from the deal.

Pedro's former club, the tiny Raqui San Isidro - he played for them until the age of 17 before joining Barca's youth academy - from the Canary Islands will also get a vital cash injection as part of the deal thanks to FIFA transfer rules.

The Tenerife-based club, who play in the Spanish fourth division will receive just over £300K which will help to cover debts which reportedly stood at around £300K.

And there is no doubt the money will be vital as club president Jaime Lorenzo told the Daily Mirror: "With this money that is coming to us, we will be able to clear all of the debts hanging over us.
