A 12-year-old boy has died in a road crash in County Mayo.
Yesterday evening, Gardaí were called out to a level crossing in Kiltybo, near Ballyhaunis, after receiving reports of a collision between a car and a train.
Upon arrival, they found the child inside the car and he was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been taken to Mayo University Hospital for a post-mortem.
The driver of the car, a man in his 40s, was taken to hospital by ambulance, where his injuries are understood not to be life-threatening.
All train passengers got off safely and alternative transport was arranged for them.

The scene is due to be examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and the road will remain closed for the time being.
Garda have asked for any witnesses to contact Ballina Garda Station and they are especially keen to talk to anyone with dash cam footage, who was in the Ballyhaunis area yesterday between 8.15pm and 9.15pm.
