There were no shocks on the second Monday of this year's Australian Open, after the men's and women's top seeds were both knocked out on Sunday.
Following Angelique Kerber's defeat Coco Vandeweghe on Sunday, Serena Williams cemented her place as favourite to win the Women's draw, following a straight-sets win over Barbora Strycova. The American won 7-5, 6-4.
Williams will face Johanna Konta in the quarter-finals. The Australian-born British star also had a straight-sets win over Ekaterina Makarova. Konta won 6-1, 6-4.

In the Men's draw, former champion Rafael Nadal looks to be returning to top form. He booked his place in the quarter-finals after a four-set win over France's Gael Monfils. The 2009 winner won 6-3, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.
Nadal will now play Canada's Milos Raonic in the last-eight. The Wimbledon finalist defeated Roberto Bautista Agut in four sets. Also in the men's draw, Denis Istomin, the conqueror of Novak Djokovic, was eliminated. He lost in the Fourth Round to Grigor Dimitrov despite winning the opening set.
