Ireland manager Martin O'Neill has insisted that he has not made any promises to Shay Given about his chances of regaining the Ireland No 1 shirt.

The veteran goalkeeper was part of training this afternoon with the rest of the Ireland squad after his inclusion in O'Neill's squad over the weekend.

Although, it had been reported that Given had returned with the guarantee that he would play, the Ireland manager said nothing had been pre-arranged.

"He still has the desire to come and play. But no promises have been made whatsoever. He's going to come here for a few days and Aston Villa have given him permission to do so and I'll have a look at it," said O'Neill.

Given's return was welcomed by John Giles on Off The Ball on Thursday, while his former team-mate Keith Andrews also had his say on the comeback, which you can listen to via the Monday Rewind podcast below:

Andrews also gave his say on the potential arrival of West Ham's Mark Noble within the Ireland ranks on the Monday Rewind. You can download the podcast via iTunes.
