England's one-day cricket captain and former Ireland international Eoin Morgan has been the target of a recent blackmail attempt, according to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) .
The ECB say they received an email from an Australian man demanding a "five figure sum", but the governing body added that the matter has been brought to a "swift conclusion".
A statement on the ECB's website says the man involved claimed he would reveal details about a relationship Morgan allegedly had with a woman five years ago.
The ECB claim their officials approached the man - who it states is currently in a relationship with the woman - and that he admitted his actions and apologised.
