Former England cricket captain Nasser Hussain says being knocked out of the World Cup is one of the national team's "lowest points".

Eoin Morgan's men suffered an embarrassing 15-run defeat by Bangladesh in Adelaide, which means they have no chance of reaching the quarter-finals with one group game left to play.

The Dubliner says he didn't expect to go out so early.

"Extremely disappointed," said England's Irish captain when asked how he felt about crashing out, "because within the group there was a lot of belief and expectation again to go further than this.

"It's more a surprise than anything else."
