Tony McEntee is expected to be appointed the new manager of the Down senior football side within the next 24 hours.

The Armagh man has previously led Crossmaglen Rangers to two All Ireland Club Football titles, three Ulster championships and three Armagh county titles.

McEntee only took the reigns with St. Brigid's in Dublin in December of last year.

Down will be further boosted next year by the returns of Marty Clarke and Caolan Mooney from the Australian Football League.
