Four-time Africa Cup of Nations champions Cameroon had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Mali in their group opener.

After Ivory Coast and Guinea played out the same result in the earlier group game, the Indomitable Lions and their West African rivals ensured the fifth 1-1 draw from eight games as the first round of group games were completed.

Sambou Yatabare gave Mali the lead with 20 minutes to go, but Cameroon hit back five minutes from time through Ambroise Oyongo, who finished from close range.
