Hull City head coach Marco Silva has signed Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic on loan until the end of the season.

It comes after the Serbian's spell at Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon was cancelled by mutual consent.

Markovic was brought to Anfield by former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers from Portuguese champions Benfica in the summer of 2014 for about €23 million.

But the Partizan Belgrade's impact at Anfield was limited.

The 2014-15 season was an underwhelming debut campaign. He made 34 appearances across all competitions including the Premier League, domestic cups and Europa League.

But just three goals and an assist followed, and he only played a full 90 minutes three times in that first season.

The 22 year old spent last season on loan at Turkish giants Fenerbahce but had a limited impact in the Super Lig.

This season, he spent the first part of the campaign at Sporting Lisbon where he made just six appearances in the Primeira Liga, covering just 205 minutes of football.

With Sporting having cancelled the loan deal by mutual consent and with Markovic not part of Jurgen Klopp's first team plans, Silva has decided to bring him to Hull.

Markovic's Liverpool contract expires in June 2019.
