Chelsea FC have released a statement stating that Jose Mourinho has their "full support".

The Premier League champions currently lie in 16th place having lost four of their first eight league games. They already are already ten points behind league leaders Manchester City.

Mourinho's side lost 3-1 on Saturday at home to Southampton, despite leading early in the game. The Portuguese manager spoke to Sky after the game and in a seven minute speech he said that he would not resign and the club would have to fire them if they wanted him gone. 

It looks like Chelsea want to keep Mourinho as manager and released the following statement earlier today. 

"The club wants to make it clear that Jose continues to have our full support.

As Jose has said himself, results have not been good enough and the team's performances must improve. However, we believe that we have the right manager to turn this season around and that he has the squad with which to do it."

Off the Ball's Nathan Murphy spoke to Mourinho after the Southampton defeat on Saturday.
