New Barcelona signing Antoine Griezmann says the club re-signing Neymar could help them "achieve great things".

It is believed the Catalan club made a bid worth around €120 million (£108 million) for the Brazilian just two years after Paris Saint-Germain bought him for a world-record fee of €222 million (£200 million).

The 28-year-old Frenchman joined from Atletico Madrid after Barcelona met his release clause of €120 million (£107 million). During his five years in the Spanish capital, Griezmann won a Europa League in 2018.

Speaking about the potential of Neymar re-joining the Spanish champions, Griezmann said, "we have to get it done first because it is a difficult transfer. But he is a great player, he's had a couple of injuries but is at an incredible level.

"We also have Dembele, Coutinho, and Malcolm who are also important players for us and lets hope we can achieve great things with them."

It was reported that Barcelona had made a bid for the Brazilian's services that would be worth €100 million as well as two players who are believed to be either Ivan Rakitić, Ousmane Dembele or Philippe Coutinho.

Griezmann says he is hopeful that he will be involved in the team, "I hope I will have an important role, I want to be an important player for the team and help in whatever way I can.

"As long as I enjoy playing with my team-mates and give it all on the pitch, it doesn't matter."

Two years ago Antoine Griezmann had been linked to a move to the Premier League to join Manchester United, with the Frenchman admitting that it was "a possibility", but said that it didn't happen because he was "very comfortable" in Spain.

"I was having a lot of fun in La Liga," he said. "We have one thing the Premier League does not - the sun."
