Darron Gibson has been confirmed to start tomorrow night's friendly with Oman at the Aviva Stadium.

Martin O'Neill has confirmed that the Everton midfielder will make his first Republic of Ireland appearance since last October's win over Kazakhstan.

Gibson's Toffees team-mate James McCarthy will be rested, while a combination of the returning Shay Given and Rob Elliott will tend to the goal.

Joey O'Brien has withdrawn from the Republic of Ireland squad for this week's game, with the full back returning to his club West Ham for treatment on a knee injury.
