Faugheen led home a 1-2-3 from the Mullins stable in the Champion Hurdle, today's feature race.

Ruby Walsh's decision to partner Faugheen was thoroughly justified as the odds-on favourite set the pace from the front throughout before quickening up to home stretch to beat stablemates Arctic Fire and Hurricane Fly.

Afterwards, the winning jockey admitted that he was spoiled for choice with the runners that his trainer had on offer.

"I trusted that he had a good turn of foot and quickened up very well for me off the bend. It was brilliant and the betting suggested it for a long time," he said.

"But to get off Hurricane Fly wasn't easy. He's run a blinder. Arctic Fire finished second, but whatever way look at it, Willie Mullins' horses are in some order."
