Three years on, it's a game that is still spoken about - although not in the best light.

But the notorious 2011 semi-final meeting of Donegal and Dublin springs to mind given that both sides go head-to-head again at the same stage of the All Ireland this Sunday.

As most of us remember, it was an infamously low-scoring encounter that saw Dublin squeeze past Donegal by a 0-8 to 0-6 scoreline.

The memories are still fresh in the memories of former Dublin half-back Barry Cahill and ex-Donegal wing-back Kevin Cassidy who reminisced about the match on Off The Ball tonight.

The latter has regrets about the match as Donegal failed to take advantage of Diarmuid Connolly's red card in the second half.

"When Connolly was sent off, that was definitely our chance to kick on but rather than pushing forward, Cluxton kicked a couple of important scores for Dublin and they managed to outscore us in the final 15 minutes," said Cassidy, who felt Donegal were naive in the closing stages of that match. 

Cahill spoke about the changes made at half-time to combat Donegal's ultra-defensive system by moving towards a running game and "probing for as long as possible".

Cahill also recalled the Dublin of that era which dominated Leinster without troubling Sam Maguire, having lost four semi-finals in the lead up to the Donegal game which he "looks back fondly on" even if most people would rather forget the match.

The lads also gave their take on how this year's match will go and whether a repeat of the 2011 tactics will occur.
