Cork's Rena Buckley cemented her legacy as one of the greatest female athletes in Ireland yesterday afternoon after winning her 16th All Ireland Senior Title.

Buckley and her team mate Briege Corkery won their tenth All Ireland Football Championship to add to their six Camogie Championship winners medals.

The Inniscara native spoke to Oisin Langan in Croke Park after Cork defeated Dublin for the second year in a row in the All Ireland Final. It finished 0-12 to 0-10 as the Rebelettes won the five in a row.

She told Oisin she was "blessed to be such a part of such a fantastic group" in both codes as new generations are coming into both teams."

"We just love playing football. We love the gang we are playing with", Buckley added as she paid praise to manager Eamonn Ryan who has been in charge of all ten of Cork's football titles. She spoke how his mantra "is about developing a player"

Despite the historic win, Buckley told Oisin that she was not overly happy with her perfomance. "Sport it like life, you are going to make mistakes. If you react ok to them, you will be ok in general"

A crowd of 31,083 were in Croke Park yesterday, making Finals Day the most attended female sporting event in Europe this year.
