The Brutal Ballet company likes dance with a twist.
Instead of the classic ballets you’ve never gotten around to seeing, this company hopes to kindle interest in dance by performing poised routines to pop cultural themes. In the past the dancers have given their spin to crazy Japanese animé, and now they’re giving the ‘Game of Thrones’ music a go.
Granted, that theme tune, what with all its pleasantly orchestral do-do do-do do-dos, seems tailor-made for some first position posing. What do we say to the Gods of Death? No plié.
But the Brutal Ballet company likes a challenge, so instead they danced their routine to a thrashing heavy metal version of the ‘Game of Thrones’ theme tune.
The company was founded by Bridie Mayfield, who brought the experimental version of 'metal ballet' to London. And the company just debuted this dance at TitanCon, a sci-fi and fantasy convention held in Belfast.
It even included a few members of the Game of Thrones cast in the audience.
